About Me:

I'm a former US Army Attack Helicopter Crew Chief with D Trp 1/167th
Air Cav. I have worked on all variations of the Huey UH-1 gunships and
all the AH-1 Cobra Attack Helicopters. Spent 3 yrs active duty in the Army
from 1973 to 1976. Last post I was stationed at was Ft. Carson Colorado.
Had a four year break in service and then came back in 1980.  Spent 15
years in the Nebraska National Guard. Was activated for Desert Storm in
1991 and got out in 1995. I have helped author many books on attack
helicopters and weapon systems. I always carried my camera on all
my missions. The US Army uses a lot of my material for training aids.
There is a lot more to my background and its just easier to Google my name.

Memorable Aviation Experience:

Hard landing in an Attack helicopter after one of the rockets that
we fired had exploded 200 ft in front of the a/c. We had just
popped up from behind some pine trees and launched a pair.
These rockets had proximity fuses on them and they had sensed the
trees. The shock wave had forced us backwards and we settled with
power, it spread the skids pretty good.
