Chapter Picnic — Sunday, September 14

We have had great weather the past few years which has allowed for a lot of fly-ins to the picnic. A reminder if you are flying in, be sure to use CTAF 122.9.

We have had great weather the past few years which has allowed for a lot of fly-ins to the picnic. A reminder if you are flying in, be sure to use CTAF 122.9.

Our annual Chapter Picnic will take place on Sunday, September 14 at Shoemaker Field – Denton Airfield (NE40) (11215 W Yankee Hill Rd – Denton, NE). Please note that the location is the same but the address has changed slightly. We will eat dinner at 6 p.m., so plan to come any time after 5 p.m. We will continue the tradition of bringing a dish that starts with the first letter of your last name; for example, if your last name is Peterson you could bring a potato salad. You may also want to bring your own chairs.

The picnic will take the place of our September Meeting. We could use some volunteers the day before the picnic to help set-up. Hangar clean out will be the Saturday before the picnic at 10 a.m.

Directions to the hangar: From Denton Rd, south on SW 98th St., then west on Yankee Hill Rd. Look for trains before crossing the tracks! Turn south at the Shoemaker Airfield sign and follow the long driveway to the “snazzy” hangar. Please note Google Maps does not provide fully accurate directions to the hangar. The picnic is always a fun event that is enjoyed by chapter members every year. Hope to see you there!

Chapter Breakfast — Saturday, August 16

The next Chapter Breakfast is Saturday, August 16 at the Crete Airport (CEK) from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.  Everyone is invited to join us for some great food, plane talk, and camaraderie — all you can eat! Just bring your appetite and a $4 donation!

And those pancakes and omelets don’t cook themselves! We’re always looking for volunteers to help with the breakfast, even if it’s just occasionally. There are a number of things we can use help with, not just cooking. If you’re interested in helping out, please call Andy Lahr at 402-840-5235. Thank you!

August Meeting — Tuesday, August 12

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, August 12 and will feature Maj. Smith, who is with the Nebraska Army National Guard. Our meeting will be at the Duncan Aviation Engine Shop (5000 NW 44th Street — Lincoln, NE) and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
