General Aviation User Fees are coming back, AOPA President Craig Fuller said in a recent email. It’s not clear yet how they will be coming back, but some speculate the fees could be $100+, and may be applied when you file a flight plan or contact air traffic control. These fees compromise safety and create a new, expensive bureaucracy. Instead, it makes more sense to increase the fuel tax, which is something the AOPA has been supporting for three years. Please contact Representative Jeffrey Fortenberry at 202-225-4806 and politely ask them not to support user fees. It’s important those in the aviation community work together to protect our freedom to fly.
