David Backes, an NHL hockey player for the St. Louis Blues, made a 700 mile journey to rescue three dogs. Backes flew with his wife and flight instructor from St. Louis to Houston. Before he was an NHL star, Backes played hockey in the USHL for the Lincoln Stars here in Lincoln, Nebraska. Along with his passion for hockey, Backes also has an appreciation for rescuing animals and flying. According to his flight instructor, he’s well on his way to getting his license.
