IMG_1924.JPGThere are a number of volunteer opportunities coming up this spring and summer on the AirVenture grounds in Oshkosh, WI. The “Weekend Work Parties” take place May through July on several different weekends. The duties can include grass cutting or gardening, painting, general maintenance, and more.  This is a great opportunity to get an “inside view” of AirVenture and also meet other aviation enthusiasts and EAA chapter members from around the world.

Five Months till OSH

Believe it or not, we are only five months away from the World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration, EAA AirVenture. It’s never too early to start planning your AirVenture experience. Advanced ticket sales have already begun for EAA Members and general public as well. The airshow will be taking place July 20-26, 2015. A number of Chapter 569 members have been attending this extraordinary event for many years. Tom Henry usually volunteers his time at the repair barn and you can often times find Dennis Crispin at campground registration in the 101 Woods area in Camp Scholler.

AirVenture in previous years

If you’re new to EAA and AirVenture, you can take a few minutes and look through Chapter 569 members’ photos from AirVenture in past years. Click the following links to view the albums for each year: AirVenture 2013; AirVenture 2012; AirVenture 2011; AirVenture 2010.

What is EAA AirVenture?

AirVenture takes place once a year around the end of July in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. EAA’s renowed annual Airventure Fly-in Convention showcases inIMG_2413_001 one week what EAA is involved in throughout the year. All of EAA’s year-round activities encourage the open exchange information, discussing new ideas and transferring skills from one person to another from generation to generation. In short, they combine to provide a “gateway” to knowledge and new experiences. Thousands of people fly-in their planes that they own and/or have built themselves and share their experiences and expertise. AirVenture attracts people from around 60 different countries; in past years, AirVenture has welcomed 600,000 international visitors. As you can see, AirVenture is a meeting place for people from all over the world to come together and share their passion for aviation. At AirVenture, you will find many exhibits, vendors, conferences, workshops, aircraft on display, and much more.

Where to Stay

Many people choose to camp out on the campgrounds right there at AirVenture. Shower facilities and other accommodations are available. There are also dorms available in and around Oshkosh that are very affordable. Hotels are widely available in the area as well, however, you can expect to pay a premium price for a hotel in or close to Oshkosh during AirVenture. There is more information available on the AirVenture Website.

Weekly and daily rates are available for admissions. As an EAA member, you are able to bring one guest and get them in at the discounted price offered to EAA members. The daily price for an adult EAA member is $28; non-EAA member is $43. Weekly pricing is only available to EAA members (and their guest) and is $116. Schedule of Events

Each day has a number of exclusive events planned. In order to take full advantage of AirVenture, it can be a good idea to look over the schedule beforehand to see what interests you. As we get closer to the airshow, AirVenture will publish a list of events for each day, along with a list of Daily Highlights. These will be available on the AirVenture Website.

We’ll have more information on AirVenture in the coming months as the airshow gets closer!

Online Directory Reminder

We’d like to remind our members, especially some of our new members who may not be aware, about our Online Member Directory. We have had our online directory for over three years now, and we have received a very favorable response from the majority of our members. The online direcotry has helped our chapter “be green”, since it eliminates the need to print a paper directory for everyone, and allows members to access information about other members from anywhere with an internet connection. Since the directory was first created, we have made many improvements to it that make it easier to use. We’ve had many of our members login, fill in their information, and utilize the new directory. We still have a handful of members that have not logged in to the new directory and have yet to update their information. Logging in and filling out your information takes only a few minutes, and allows other members know how to get into contact with you. Furthermore, with the online directory, you can update your information at anytime, so if you get a new address, phone number, email address, or other contact information changes, you can update it yourself at anytime. Additionally, you can provide information about your aviation experiences, projects, and expertise. The online directory is only accessible by Chapter 569 members.

How to Login to the Directory

1. Go to the Chapter 569 Member Directory at http://eaa569.org/directory.

2. Click on “Login” on the blue bar near the top. Your login information should have been emailed to you when the directory was first made (or when you first became a member), but if you don’t know what it is, just click here. We will send your login information to your email address; it may take up to 24 hours.

3. Once you are logged in, click on “Edit/Update Your Profile”. You can fill out your contact information and other aviation information. You can also update your password to something easier to remember. Be sure to click on “Update” at the bottom of the page to save the changes to your profile.

4. Upon logging in, you have the ability to view other members’ profiles. You must be logged in to view other members’ profiles. Profiles can be viewed on the main directory page at http://eaa569.org/directory. Click on a member’s name to view their profile; if you are not logged in, it will prompt you to go to the login page.

If you have questions, comments, concerns, or need help with the directory, there is a guide that can be accessed if you click here. We also encourage you to contact webmaster@eaa569.org and we will be happy to help!

Pay your 2015 Dues

A reminder that it’s time to renew your membership with the chapter for 2015. We ask all members to please click here and fill out the online renewal form. Upon completing the online form, please mail your $20 payment to our Chapter Treasurer. Checks should be made payable to EAA Chapter 569.  We prefer members use the online renewal system if possible as this automatically disperses the information to all appropriate contacts within the chapter. However, we do still have the paper form available for members who would prefer to use that.  You can click here to print off, fill out, and mail in the paper form. You will need to mail the form, along with your $20 payment, to our Chapter Treasurer. Our Chapter Treasurer’s information for 2015 is listed below:

Mark Werth
2110 Spring Meadow Circle
Lincoln, NE 68521

Again, whether you are a new member or renewing your membership we ask that you fill out the form. If you have any questions, please email webmaster@eaa569.org. Thank you!
