EAA AirVenture 2013 — July 29 – August 4

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013 is taking place from July 29 – August 4. It’s not too late to make plans to go! Many of our members make the trip every year and have been for quite some time. Tom Henry usually volunteers his time at the repair barn and you can often times find Dennis Crispin at campground registration in the 101 Woods area in Camp Scholler. Be sure to stop by and visit them! You can click here to go to the AirVenture website for the latest information, daily highlights, and full schedule of events.

AirVenture NOTAM

The 2013 Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for AirVenture has been completed and is now available either in online PDF format or in printed copies available through EAA’s membership services department. Click here to view the PDF.

Schedules & Planning

It can be a good idea to look over the schedule beforehand, especially if you’re new to AirVenture. This will help you to find the things that you want to do to help you plan your schedule. You can click here to view daily highlights. You can also click here to take advantage of the “Plan My Schedule” feature, which allows you to view the full schedule of events and search for keywords. Be sure to check the AirVenture website for other schedules and updates, as events are subject to change.

AirVenture Today

AirVenture Today is the official daily newspaper for the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Air Show. We will post links to the daily newsletters here once the air show begins.

Weather & Safety

You can check out the latest weather forecast for Oshkosh here on the main page of our website on the right hand side. Last year temperatures reached near 100 degrees, with heat indexes even higher. Be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and stay hydrated. Take breaks and seek shelter in the shade.

July & August Webinars

EAA has a number of Webinars (online seminars) taking place this summer. Some of the topics include annual inspections, insurance and risk factors, stall characteristics and airspeed management, among many others. Some of the Webinars qualify for credit in the FAA’s WINGS or AMT awards program. Additional information and registration details can be found here. Webinars are a free benefit for members, but space is limited, so make sure you register ahead of time!

New Video from Butch Lottman

Thanks to Butch Lottman for sending in another video. Click here to watch it. This one features some of the most beautiful sights from the Platte River Valley, Branched Oak Lake, Butch’s home airfield “Bowers International”, and a private airstrip where the owners little black and white spotted dog just loves to jump out of hiding to play tag. Thanks to John Floy for allowing the use of his music.

July Breakfast — Saturday, July 20

Our next Chapter Breakfast will take place on Saturday, July 20.  Everyone is welcome to join us for some great food, coffee, and plane talk.  As always, it’s all you can eat for just a $4 donation!  The breakfast takes place from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. at the Crete Airport (CEK).

We are in need of volunteers to help out with the breakfasts each month.  If you can help out in any way, even just occasionally, please contact Andy Lahr at 402-840-5235.  Thank you!
