Chapter Picnic — Sunday, September 13

Chapter Picnic

Our annual picnic will take place Sunday, September 13th. Plan to arrive around 5:00 p.m.; we will begin serving dinner at approximately 6:00 p.m. As always, the picnic will take place at Shoemaker Field (Denton Airfield – NE40) in Don Shoemaker’s “snazzy” hangar. The address is 11215 W Yankee Hill Rd – Denton, NE (see directions below). Fly-ins, be sure to use CTAF 122.9. The picnic will take the place of the September meeting.

Chapter 569 will provide drinks. We will grill up some hamburgers and hot dogs, and we’re asking everyone to bring a side dish that starts with the first letter of your last name. For example, if your last name is Shoemaker you could bring steak for everyone. 🙂 Please also bring your own table service, and your own chairs and table if convenient. After dinner, Dennis will do his annual presentation on AirVenture 2015.

This is always a great event that is enjoyed by everyone, as we near the end of summer and enter into fall. Bring your friends and family along!

Directions to the hangar at Shoemaker Airfield: From Denton Rd, south on SW 98th St then west on Yankee Hill Rd. Look for trains before crossing the tracks! Turn south at the Shoemaker Airfield sign and follow the long driveway to the “snazzy” hangar. Please be cautious if using a GPS; the address changed last year, and Google Maps incorrectly lists Shoemaker Airfield as being in Lincoln — it is in Denton.

Yankton Breakfast — Sunday, September 20

There will be a fly-in, drive-in, walk-in, dragged-in airport breakfast at Chan Gurney Airport (YKN) in Yankton, SD from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21. This breakfast always takes place the 3rd Sunday in September. PIC eat FREE, adults $5.00, kids 5-10 $2.00, and kids under 5 eat free. The breakfast is sponsored by Yankton Regional Aviation Association, Crop Dusters LLC, and HyVee. For more information, call Steve at 605-665-8448 or email skyhawk@iw.net.

Chapter Toolbox Reminder

A reminder to our members about our Chapter Toolbox, especially some of our newer members who may not know about it. We encourage our members to check out the list of tools we have available to borrow. Some of the tools are owned by the chapter, while others are owned by chapter members who have made them available to borrow.  If you are working on a project and need a tool, you can borrow it from the Chapter Toolbox for FREE for as long as you need and then return it when you are done with it. It is open to all Chapter 569 members. It has been updated with many new tools since it first began. To visit the Chapter Toolbox, click here.
